Frequently Asked Questions
Weight loss injections are generally considered safe when prescribed by a medical doctor and used as directed. Mounjaro and Wegovy are approved in the UK for weight loss and have undergone extensive clinical trials, however, they can have side effects such as nausea and vomiting. At NL Clinic all our consultations are with a Medical Doctor and we will help you through the process.
Long-term side effects of weight loss injections can include gastrointestinal issues, such as nausea and diarrhoea, and more serious risks like pancreatitis and gallbladder disease. At NL Clinic we regularly monitor your progress and recommend regular Blood Testing in order to continuously assess suitability.
Not everyone is a suitable candidate for weight loss injections. They are typically prescribed to adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or 27 with weight-related conditions like hypertension or type 2 diabetes. People with a history of certain medical conditions, such as pancreatitis or thyroid cancer, may not be eligible.
Weight loss injections, such as Saxenda, are available on the NHS for patients who meet specific criteria, including a high BMI and associated health conditions. Availability can vary, and not all patients may qualify. At NL Clinic, our Medical Doctors provide private consultation and follow the same guidelines as recommended by the NHS and WHO.
Contraindications for weight loss injections include a history of severe allergic reactions to the medication, a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, and multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2. Caution is advised in patients with pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and severe gastrointestinal conditions. At NL Clinic, our medical doctors will discuss your medical history to determine suitability, we will also conduct a blood test on your first dose to ensure suitability.
